ABSTRACT

PURPOSE: This chapter presents the influence of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on crowdsourcing.

DESIGN/METHODOLOGY/APPROACH: Using Systematic Literature Review (Prisma) 1,396 papers were identified, from the Scopus data base, screened 482 and finally selected 79 journal articles were uploaded on Zotero Reference Manager for analysis. Crowdsourcing, Artificial Intelligence (AI) features and Crowdsourcing Platforms aided the search.

FINDINGS: The study established that AI features: Machine Learning (ML), Deep Learning (DL), Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR), Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Natural Language Generation (NLG) improves crowdsourcing platforms.

ORIGINALITY: The chapter’s originality provides insight into how AI improves crowdsourcing is critical for developers and users of the different crowdsourcing applications.

IMPLICATIONS/LIMITATIONS: The chapter limitation is literature review, therefore, future research needs to undertake empirical research using qualitative and quantitative data collection, could strengthen the study. Theoretically, the chapter provides insight into strengthening and improvement of crowdsourcing platforms globally.

PRACTICAL IMPLICATION: Practically, AI improves crowdsourcing platforms. Developers and users of crowdsourcing platforms have to incorporate AI in crowdsourcing platforms.

KEYWORDS: Artificial Intelligence; Automatic Speech Recognition; Crowdsourcing; Deep Learning; Machine Learning.
