The theme of the Outlook 2019 is to strengthening the role of science, innovation and research uptake in service of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development (SD). The volume will therefore critically examine the important role of science, innovation and research for the achievement of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Agenda and to provoke forward thinking on the role of science, innovation and research in solving global problems related to sustainability. This volume includes a selection of the best full papers presented at the WASD 17th International Annual Conference and 6th Diaspora International Conference, both jointly organised with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), Nairobi, Kenya and hosted by the International Maritime Organization (IMO), London, UK in the period 17-21 June 2019 in London, UK.
