Abstract: Given the significance of the impact of logistics infrastructure on trade and economic development in Africa, it is critical that an examination of freight logistics and supply chain activities be performed with a view to identifying the key prospects for development of trade and conducting business in Africa. This study adopts a descriptive research philosophy to analyse the nature of logistics infrastructure in the continent of Africa. The findings reveal that inadequate infrastructural facilities, lack of continent-wide regulatory framework, the absence of political will and a limited application of technology, to a great extent, are contributory inhibiting factors to the development of logistics infrastructure in Africa. The study therefore recommends that adequate freight transport facilities and regulatory reforms are essential to logistical infrastructure development in Africa.
