Purpose: This chapter explores the Kenana Sugar Company (KSC) Integrated Cane Model, a pioneering framework for sustainable sugar production in the post-war recovery of Sudan’s sugar sector.

Methodology: An integrated knowledge approach was used for in-depth analysis and conclusions based on the historical data and the cane model developed by KSC. This was supplemented by the team's multidisciplinary backgrounds and experiences.

Findings: Recognizing the environmental and socio-economic challenges associated with traditional sugar cultivation, KSC has adopted a circular economy model aimed at optimizing resource utilization, reducing waste, and ensuring long-term industry resilience. Key features of this model include advanced irrigation techniques, factory water recycling, and rainwater harvesting to reduce water consumption and enhance sustainability. In terms of increasing energy sources, the model increases energy cogeneration from bagasse, ethanol extraction from molasses, and biogas production from organic waste to lower dependence on fossil fuels and minimize carbon emissions. The model effectively contributes to waste reduction by recycling by-products, such as vinasse, filter mud, and bagasse, which are repurposed as bio-fertilizers, animal feed, and energy sources, supporting circular production cycles and soil enrichment. Regarding corporate social responsibility (CSR), the Kenana Sugar Company's model supports local communities, provides job opportunities, improves infrastructure (roads, schools, and healthcare), and contributes significantly to social development in the region.

Contribution and Practical Implications: The KSC Integrated Cane Model exemplifies how Sudan’s sugar industry can transition towards a sustainable, green economy, mitigating environmental impact while fostering economic recovery in the post-war era. This framework serves as a blueprint for revitalizing the industry and enhancing environmental and social sustainability in Sudan.

Limitations: Despite the model's development and testing under full corporate business commitment, it can also contribute positively under public companies if political will services the commitment.
