From remittance dependence to AI-supported entrepreneurship development: a roadmap for sustainable livelihoods in Feni District, Bangladesh, Mohammad Samsul Hoque

Objective: The objective of this study is to analyze the potential of remittance-dependent households in Feni district to transform into sustainable entrepreneurs through artificial intelligence (AI) and human-centered support.
Methodology/Design: The study adopted a mixed-methods approach, using surveys and key informant interviews (KII).
Results: The study shows that remittances are mainly used for consumption and productive investment is limited. AI-based digital finance, market intelligence and business planning tools are helpful in decision-making and entrepreneurship development. However, human support is essential for building trust and behavioral change. Therefore, an integrated model of AI and human support is most effective.
Value of the Study: This study provides guidance for policymakers and development practitioners and contributes to the achievement of SDGs 1, 8 and 10.
