Purpose: The war in Sudan disrupted the traditional banking system, causing displacement, cash shortages, communication blackouts, and system failures, creating demand for digital financial tools. This study examines the adoption of Fintech applications during the war using the UTAUT model, focusing on how crisis conditions reshape users’ acceptance of digital financial services.
Design/Methodology/Approach: A quantitative approach uses a structured questionnaire based on UTAUT constructs: Economic Benefit, Convenience, Privacy Concerns, Effort Expectancy, Performance Expectancy, Social Influence, and Facilitating Conditions, plus war-related Financial, Security, Operational, and Legal Risks. Data analyzed using PLS-SEM tests relationships with Trust, Adoption Intentions, and Actual Use. Data collected from Sudanese users affected by displacement, communication crises, and banking shutdowns.
Findings: Fintech becomes essential as banking collapses. Public–private partnerships, improved infrastructure, and lower Internet costs are needed. Individual factors positively influence adoption intentions. Fintech supports survival and financial inclusion in conflict settings.
Originality/Value: This study provides an empirical examination of Fintech adoption during active conflict in Sudan using UTAUT.
Keywords: Fintech; War; Sudan; UTAUT.
