The huge demand on Artificial Intelligence (AI) applications has led to some mistaken understanding about the role of artificial intelligence concept and its role in solving our daily life problems. AI by definition is a branch of computer science that aims at finding a way of making machines think intelligently, in the similar manner the intelligent humans think. This article presents insights into different definitions of Artificial Intelligence and some philosophical views behind AI including Good Old Fashioned Artificial Intelligence (GOFAI). Furthermore, it shed lights on various AI branches such as Machine Learning and Deep Learning. In addition, the article discusses few applications of AI in real life including banking, education and healthcare. The discussion reveals the key challenges that will be seen in the future application of AI such as moving way from black box model and avoiding bias in AI algorithms. Such challenges are under investigation for a while, however more investigation is needed to manage them and mitigate the risk of having inefficient and less explainable AI-powered artefacts. Such complexities require collaborative investigation which remains for future work.
