Purpose: This study examines the impact of wise leadership on sustainable organisational performance and investigates the mediating role of the green use of information technology (IT) within an industrial context.
Design/methodology/approach: A quantitative cross-sectional design was employed using survey data from 500 employees of the Northern Refineries Company. Data were analysed using structural equation modelling (SEM) with AMOS to test direct and mediating relationships.
Findings: The results indicate that wise leadership significantly influences both Green IT adoption and sustainable organisational performance. Mediation analysis confirms that Green IT fully mediates the relationship between wise leadership and sustainability outcomes.
Originality/value: The study provides a process-based explanation linking leadership philosophy to sustainability performance through technological capability, addressing fragmentation in leadership and Green IT literature.
Practical implications: Organisations should integrate governance-oriented leadership with structured Green IT strategies to achieve long-term sustainability objectives.
