Abstract: The ongoing military confrontations that broke-out in 15th April 2023 posed rigorous repercussions on rural and urban communities in terms of growing human losses, disruption of livelihood, mass displacement and migration, serious damage to infrastructures, environment and public and private institutions, including Higher Education Institutions (HEI). Consequently, risks of food insecurity, signs of ethno-political polarization and regionalism are eminently witnessed. HEI play a pivotal role in re-building Sudan aftermath in terms of both sustainable development and peace. The current chapter aims at exploring the role of HEI in rebuilding post-war Sudan in terms of adopting education for reconciliation, research and knowledge generation and transfer on root causes of conflict, training and capacity building for individuals and community, promoting social cohesion and civic engagement, influencing public policies related to post-conflict recovery, networking and partnerships with development and peace building curators, local leaders and community outreach.
