Purpose: This paper aims to outline how conflicts interrelate with disaster and what are the causes of those conflicts.

Design/methodology/approach: in the light of literature and conflict analysis frameworks, concrete examples of conflict eruptions and disaster extricating were illustrated.

Findings: Ethnic tension, perceived inequalities and injustices, conflicting roles, incompatible political goals and conflicting ideologies.

Original/value of the chapter: The paper delineates the principal cause and mechanisms of conflict interrelating with disasters as distinct from contextual conditions.

Practical implications: Understanding conflict-disaster nexus and what cause such complexities helps conflict management and prevention for peacebuilding.
